Halloween Costumes

Happy Halloween everyone! I love this holiday and seeing what everyone dresses up as. I saw several professors dressed up on campus today and I was happy to get candy in some classes. Tonight my dad is the star of the show. He dressed up as Larry Culpepper from the Dr. Pepper commercials:

Here is Larry Culpepper:
He is so in character to it is honestly hilarious. He is going to be walking around the neighborhood yelling "Ice Cold Dr. Pepper here, ICE COLD!" and explaining to anyone who will listen how "He invented the College Football Playoffs". :) He is too crazy! Watch it all happen on my Instagram story y'all.

Now I thought it would be fun to include some throwback pictures from past Halloweens so we can all laugh at my costumes together. I have also included some of my sister too because they are hilarious!

My first Halloween as a leopard.. I was more interested in sucking my thumb.

Here is my sister as the leopard and I was a duck!

At our house in Tennessee this particular year, we had a problem with skunks under our house (yeah.. not fun!) so my parents decided it would be funny to dress me as a skunk for Halloween :)

PLEASE tell me some of y'all remember Blues Clues? LOVED that show!

I was a cowgirl!

And of course at some point I was Snow White!

This year I was a cheerleader.. but my sister had the best costume:
My family still gets a hoot out of seeing Meredith as a clown :D

Cat in the Hat

Who remembers Raggedy Ann?

Clearly my sister was pumped to be a fairy .. hahah!

A gymnast and a chef.. I am pretty sure this is exactly what we wanted to be when we grew up at this age.

This has been my costume for several years because it is cute and easy and comes quite natural to me ;) I'm a nerd at heart!

My dad was a hippie one year and we couldn't get over the flip flops and jeans combo (which is so not my dad haha) as well as the glasses :)

My favorite kid costume I have seen so far this season:

CHIP AND JOANNA GAINES! I am DEAD!

Well that was fun! What was your favorite costume you ever dressed up in? Let me know! I will talk to y'all tomorrow!

Rice Krispies That Look Like Candy Corn

Happy Monday y'all. Boy was my weekend PACKED! I was somehow talked into going to a late movie on Friday the 13th and y'all it was actually really good. The movie is called 'Happy Death Day' and you should go see it :)
I then woke up at 5am the next morning to catch the sunrise at Cocoa Beach with a friend and it was stunning!
Needless to say I was desperate for a relaxing Sunday after church at home to catch up on my baking and my homework piling up. It is no secret that I love all things Rice Krispie treats. They are my favorite. They are gluten free. They taste like heaven. They aren't too rich. They taste like heaven. The End.

Enjoy this festive, and easy recipe y'all!

Ingredients:
6 C crispy rice cereal
6 C mini marshmallows
5 Tbsp. butter
orange gel food coloring
dark chocolate candy coating
white chocolate candy coating

Directions:
In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter.
Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat and add the food coloring until you have reached the desired color.
Stir in the cereal until fully coated.
Press into a 11" x 13" baking dish and let set for several minutes at least.
Once the treats have set, cut into triangles and *melt the melting chocolates as direction on the packaging.
Dip the top of the triangle in the dark chocolate and the tip in the white chocolate. Place on wax paper to harden.
Once the chocolate has set, store the treats at room temperature in an airtight container up to three days.

*I used the Ghiradelli melting chocolates and they made this treat about 133899 times better!

Enjoy and Happy Fall!!

3 Fall and Halloween Treats!

Happy Monday y'all. My sister and I have been on a baking kick lately. If you didn't see my Rolo Snacks from last week you definitely should. An easy staple in my house hold. Today I am sharing three more recipes that are perfect for any Fall or Halloween festivities.

The first two were demonstrated in my sisters video she posted today so make sure to watch so you can understand a bit better :)

First up, Candy Corn Rice Krispies! This is super easy and SO cute! You can PRINT the recipe here.

Ingredients:
For the yellow layer
2 1/4 cup rice krispies cereal
1 3/4 cup mini marshmallows
2 tsp unsalted butter
12 drops yellow food coloring

For the orange layer
1 1/4 cup rice krispies cereal
1 cup mini marshmallows
1 1/2 tsp unsalted butter
10 drops of yellow food coloring
3 drops of red food coloring

For the white layer
1 cup rice krispies cereal
1 tsp unsalted butter
3/4 cup mini marshmallows

Directions:
Coat an 8" round cake pan with nonstick cooking spray.
For the yellow layer: In a medium pot, melt the butter over low heat and then add your marshmallows. Stir in the food coloring and then pour over your rice krispies. Stir and coat evenly.
Pour the mixture into your sprayed pan and using your hands, mold the yellow mixture around the edge of the bowl.
Complete these steps with the orange and white layer as well.
Cool the Rice Krispies completely. When you are ready to serve, slice your rice krispies like you would a pizza or a pie so that each slice looks like a candy corn.
Enjoy!

Next up, Pumpkin Spice White Hot Chocolate. UMMMM YEAH. You can PRINT the recipe here.

Ingredients:
1 Cup heavy cream
2 Cups of milk
1 Cup of Ghiradelli white chocolate chips
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin spice
Whipped cream and any additional toppings you wish to use

Directions:
Heat cream and milk in a pan over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Do not bring to a boil.
In a medium sized bowl, pour heated cream and milk over white chocolate chips. Stir until melted.
Add vanilla and pumpkin and stir.
Pour in a glass and serve with whipped cream, additional pumpkin spice, and whatever other toppings you wish.

And lastly, my Chocolate Dirt Cake. AH <3 I took a chocolate twist on my Easter No Bake Dirt Cake and my oh my was it good. You can really take this dessert and make it festive for any occasion. I think popping a few pumpkin candies on top with a few ghost peeps to make it look like a graveyard would be the cutest touch for your Halloween party. You can PRINT the recipe here.

Ingredients:
2 packages of  Oreos (I used the gluten free chocolate Oreos)
1 8 oz. PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese (softened)
½ cup butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 large container cool whip (16 ounces)
2 boxes INSTANT chocolate pudding
3 cups milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Peeps or any seasonal decorations you wish to use

Directions:
Crush the first package of gluten free Oreos and press a long the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan.
With a standing mixer with a paddle attachment mix the cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar. Then add in the cool whip.
In a separate bowl, mix yourself the pudding mix, milk, and vanilla.
Add the two mixtures together in a bowl and mix well.
Pour the combined mixture over the pan.
Crush the second package of Oreos and spread on top.
Once this is done add the Easter decorations to the top of the cake and let chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving. Keep in the refrigerator when not enjoying.

Hope y'all enjoy the rest of your Monday! I will talk to you very soon!

Fall Cookies

Hey y'all. Look at these cute fall decorated cookies. I promised a nicer picture of how they turned out and here they are. I can't wait to make more recipes for the upcoming seasons and holidays. I admit though, that I would feel much more motivated to do so if the weather wasn't hot as you know where outside ;) You can used any kind of cookie dough you like. If you are just learning how to decorate cookies though I recommend starting on a sugar cookie. It is like a blank canvas.

Here is a link to the icing recipe. You just have to die it with your choice of colors.

Happy Baking!
