My 2020 New Years Resolutions / Goals!

Happy Monday everyone! I can't believe 2020 is quickly approaching. I am so excited for the new year and what it will hold. So many exciting things are already coming up in this first week that I can't wait to see happen.
I am a planner and organized freak and nothing ever gets done if I don't have it written down. Therefore, I thought it would be good to write down my 2020 goals so that it keeps me accountable. At the end of this post, I will revisit my 2019 resolutions as well.

My 2020 Goals:

1. Get into a better sleep routine. I wake up really early for work which is great, but I have let it mess up my sleep schedule. Instead of staying up late, and then taking a nap the next day after work, I want to get to bed earlier and stop taking naps during the day. It makes me feel lethargic and I want to get my 8 hours consecutively instead of broken up.

2. Have a more consistent devotion time. I love my quiet time with God every day but again, my routine has been off. I want to start doing it at the same time every morning and being consistent with what I do each time.

3. Pass my last two teacher certification exams. This isn't really an option if I ever want to graduate and be a teacher but it is a good goal nonetheless. This will take some studying and time but we got this!

4. Save over $1,000. I debated putting this actual number in here but saving for my future is a big goal of mine and I want to encourage you to do the same. We each have different jobs and different bills to pay so our amounts will all be different. Some of you will save less, some more. It is just important to have a plan! Okay moving on.. I blame my financial manager father, ha!

5. Go to the beach at least once a month. I am so blessed to live only about an hour from the ocean. I truly believe if a place is free to go to and makes you the happiest and most peaceful you can be, you should go more often! I want to make more of an effort each month to get to my happy place.

6. Get Zumba certified. This one is rather random and might need to wait until summer when I am much less busy and can afford to go to the training, but I think this would just be so fun. I have loved to dance my whole life and I have loved attending Zumba classes almost every day this past semester. Combining my love of teaching and my love of dance, might just be fun.

7. Publish at least one blog post a week. My blog has taken a hit this past year y'all and I am not upset about it at all. I focused more this past year on improving the quality of my real life rather than my online life and that is OK. I have missed being creative though and having a small space on the internet where I can share what I have been loving lately with y'all. I don't want my blog to ever take the place of being present in my "real life" but would like to have a more consistent routine. One blog post a week sounds like a good balance for 2020.

8. Read 50 books this year. In 2019 I read 43 so I don't feel like 50 is out of the question. I absolutely love reading and want to continue to make time for it. I have learned so much through different books, and honestly just find books super entertaining. They help calm me and I love being able to escape into a story for a little while.

9. Take a road trip to somewhere in Florida. I love this sunshine state I get to call home and want to take some time to explore a part of it I haven't yet. I thought it would be fun to take a little road trip with my mom or sister sometime this summer and see maybe Palm Beach or an Island not too far away. We shall see!

I really tried to think of a tenth goal to make it an even number but was so happy with this list. Now let's revisit my 2019 goals. Here is the blog post I wrote about them last year.

Reflecting on my 2019 Goals:

I chose "uncomfortable" as my word of the year. I wanted to do something that cost me something. I feel like I stuck to this throughout 2019 and truly stepped out of my comfort zone.
I have never stepped foot into a gym, much less a college one with body builder dudes. Yet, I pushed myself to go and now attend an exercise class every day of the week.
Making new friends is always hard as an adult, but I pushed myself to go to socials and meet new people.
I do wish I got a little more uncomfortable in my faith and relationship with Christ. I am hoping in 2020 I really push myself to reach more people for Christ.

Here were my specific resolutions:

1. Make my bed every day. Y'all I killed this one. This really is an easy task to make a habit and it now bothers me SO bad when I don't do it. I just like coming home from class to a clean room and made bed. Go me!

2. Fall in love with running again. I did one better. I fell in love with fitness as a whole. I have lost weight and built muscle and have fallen in love with moving each and every day.

3. Challenge myself in my daily devotions. At times I did and at times I plateaued. This is normal in any relationship and I hope to continue to challenge myself in my relationship with God in the new year.

4. Read, read, read. I would say we did alright. I finished 43 books and I am so proud of that number. Click here to read my top 5 books of 2019.

5. Study Hard and Have More Fun. Can you guess which one I did out of these two? Ha! This past year I really made the most out of my time as a college student and made myself get out more. I have had so much fun this year and I am proud of that. I have explored Orlando, made new friends, gone to sporting events, and plain enjoyed my life. I didn't create great study habits like I had hoped and often left everything to the last minute (oops), but I did make all A's and B's and passed my first two certification exams. I'm not mad about that.

Overall, I am so happy with what 2019 brought me and what I accomplished. I am so ready for 2020 too though and can't wait to reflect a year from now and everything that has happened. What are your goals for 2020? I would love to cheer you on!

I will talk to you in the New Year!

xoxo
