How To Make Living in a Hot Climate Easier

If you happen to live somewhere that gets very hot, you might find that you are often struggling to quite literally keep your cool. I live here in the sunshine state so I am almost ALWAYS hot! ha! This can affect your enjoyment of your own home to a huge degree.

As it happens, there are things you can do to make living in a hot climate considerably easier, and in this article we are going to take a look at what those things are.

Stay Hydrated

The single most important thing that you can do is to develop a habit of drinking plenty of fluids. You should of course limit your alcohol intake, as that is only going to dehydrate you. But drinking a lot of

water, juice and smoothies is always going to help you to remain cool in hot weather, and it’s also important

if you are keen to keep your health in check too. The last thing you want is to cause yourself health problems

from living somewhere that is too hot, so drinking a lot of water is the way to avoid those issues.

Install Sun Shading At Home

If you want to try and make your home itself a lot easier to live in when it is hot, then you might want to look

into getting some sun shading installed. This is a means of blocking out a lot of the light, and it actually has

more benefits than just keeping you cool while you are at home. It also stops you from being as prone to developing

skin cancer, while ensuring you are less likely to suffer heat radiation. That’s good news for you and the home itself,

so look into sunshading options at your earliest convenience.

Get Plenty Of Air Flow

Again with your home, what you need to do is to try and make sure that you have plenty of air flowing through the building at all times. In a lot of hot climates, homes are built up on stilts for this very reason,

but you should also do whatever you can to help the process along. That includes keeping windows open -

as long as it is safe to do so, of course - and making sure that you have a decent ventilation system. These

things will help more than you might think.

Dress Properly

Say goodbye to heavy cotton and layers because come Florida summer, you want want to be wearing hardly anything.

Ditch the heavy layers and invest in some moisture wicking clothing. One of the reasons I love shopping at Lilly Pulitzer is

because so many of their clothing pieces are cooling and breathable.

I hope you all have a great day! We will chat soon. xoxo
