The Tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant ~Weekly Devotion~

What we Read This Week:
God called on His people to build a tabernacle for Him. A tabernacle was kind of like a church. He gave great wisdom to craftsmen so they could build it. God also prepared the people so they would give an offering for building the Tabernacle. The peoples offering was so big that Moses had to tell them to stop giving.
The Tabernacle was a holy place where people went to meet with God. Behind a curtain laid the Ark of the Covenant and the people and priests had rituals they performed once a year where they went past the curtain.
Relating it to Your Life:
I am almost jealous of the reverence these people had for God. They had such fear and respect for God that when he called them to give to help build the Tabernacle, the gave SO much that Moses had to start turning them down. They probably never strolled in there wearing booty shorts and flip flops, with Starbucks in hand either. I am not saying that churches have to be selective in who they let in, but we as the church and as Gods people should start having a little bit more respect for God in his place. When we come to church we shouldn't be fake or cheesy, but we should always behave and look our best out of respect and reverence for God.
