August, September, & October Reading Recap

I have clearly been slacking on my book reviews since school started. As much as I have loved my new school and role this year, I have been struggling to find time for what I love most: reading! I have started to get into a better routine now and try to leave work at work.

Though I don't have a ton of books to review, I do have some great ones to share.

Undistracted by: Bob Goff

"The world has never been more distracting—joy has never been more possible.

Bob’s stories are like the rumble strips on the road that make you suddenly alert to how far you have drifted from your lane. From visiting friends in San Quentin to accidentally getting into a stalker’s car at the airport to establishing Uganda’s first space program, Bob shows you the way back to an audaciously attentive life.

Your undistracted life is an adventure waiting to happen. What stories will you live with undistracted purpose and unstoppable joy?"

I absolutely love Bob Goff and have always said that he would be one of my 5 people to have over for a theoretical dinner party. I listened to this book on audio and because he narrates the book himself, you truly feel like you are listening to your craziest and funniest friend tell stories. I loved the message of this book and found myself laughing out loud.

Lease on Love by: Falon Ballard

"After getting passed over for an overdue—and much needed—promotion, Sadie Green is in desperate need of three things: a stiff drink, a new place to live, and a one-night-stand. When one drink turns into one too many, Sadie mixes up a long-ignored dating app for a roommate-finding app and finds herself on the doorstep of Jack Thomas’s gorgeous Brooklyn brownstone."

I really liked this quick read. I found the characters were easy to like and root for and it was a quick read that still had a meaningful plot.

Beach Read by: Emily Henry

"A romance writer who no longer believes in love and a literary writer stuck in a rut engage in a summer-long challenge that may just upend everything they believe about happily ever afters."

I don't know why I put off reading Emily Henry books for so long!! This book was FANTASTIC and I shed a tear or two when it ended. I loved the characters, the setting, the storyline was adorable, and it was spicy enough without being rated R. I loved this one!!

People We Meet On Vacation by: Emily Henry

"Poppy and Alex. Alex and Poppy. They have nothing in common. She’s a wild child; he wears khakis. She has insatiable wanderlust; he prefers to stay home with a book. And somehow, ever since a fateful car share home from college many years ago, they are the very best of friends. For most of the year they live far apart—she’s in New York City, and he’s in their small hometown—but every summer, for a decade, they have taken one glorious week of vacation together.

Until two years ago, when they ruined everything. They haven’t spoken since.."

I could not love this book more. These characters were adorable and the tension they have the whole book is fantastic! If you love traveling than you will also really appreciate this book. I highly recommend!

Book Lovers by: Emily Henry

"One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn't see coming...."

What can I say, I was on an Emily Henry kick and had to finish strong. Don't get me wrong, this book was still really cute and good. I just didn't like this one as much as her other two. Still a great read though!

  1. It's great to see you getting back into your book reviews, even with a busy school schedule. Bob Goff's "Undistracted" sounds like a delightful and insightful listen, and it's clear you enjoyed it. "Lease on Love" also seems like a fun and engaging read with likable characters. Keep those reviews coming!
