June Reading Recap & Recommendations

Another month has come and gone and it's time to review some BOOKS! I got on my reading game this month and really enjoyed several of these. I can't wait to hear what you have been reading!

Let's talk books friends!

Running For My Life by: Lopez Lomong

This book is the true life story of a boy who spent his days running from rebel soldiers in Sudan, running around a refugee camp, and then running in the Olympics for the USA.

This is one of the very best stories I've read in a long time. I laughed, I cried, and I couldn't honestly believe some of the things this man went through. I HIGHLY recommend this book.

Milestones & Miracles by: Marcia Mitchell

This is the story of the Little Lighthouse, a school for the blind that started as the dream of two moms later turned into a full fledged program and school for so many impressive students.

A friend let me borrow this book and I LOVED reading about the miracles that took place to bring this school to fruition. If you have a dream of starting a program, school, charity, or anything that can make an impact for God's kingdom, I HIGHLY recommend this book.

Anxious People by: Fredrik Backman

A would-be bank robber disappears into thin air after accidently holding several individuals hostage.

I liked the story line okay but this author's writing is just not my favorite. I found it hard to really like any of the characters and found the way it was written really annoying.

Every Vow You Break by: Peter Swanson

When a one night stand from her bachelorette party shows up at her wedding and follows her to her honeymoon, Abigail finds herself scared for her safety and doesn't know who to trust.

THIS THRILLER WAS SO GOOD! The first half is slower but by the halfway point I couldn't read it fast enough!! I loved the twists and truly didn't see a lot of it coming. It was dark and had a few mature scenes but overall, it was just a classic thriller that left me guessing at every turn.

Brewed Awakening by: Cleo Coyle

When Clare wakes up in a hospital confused and experiencing amnesia, she is told she has witnessed a crime and is needed as a witness. She also has no idea who her own family is and what her life has been like for the last 15 years.

Did you know that Coffee House Mysteries are a THING?? I loved how cozy and sweet this story was and the storyline was interesting. I think everyone could use a good book like this every now and then. I just wanted to get a good cup of coffee and sit in the corner of a library with a big blanket and this book. I highly recommend.  I can't wait to read more of these types of books.
