'Me Before You'- Book vs. Movie

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I just got back from the theater after seeing the movie Me Before You. As you may have read in my last post, I took this past week to myself and part of my first week of summer was spent reading a book by the pool each day. I finished this book in a matter of days and WOW. I have very mixed emotions about this one y'all.

As you may know, I am always partial to the books rather than movies almost ALWAYS... buuuuut... I think I would have to go with the movie on this one. I can't go into too much detail as to why without spoiling the ending but for the first time in forever (yes I just made a Disney Frozen reference.. try to refrain from singing that song in your head right now) I feel like I actually felt more connected to the characters in the movie rather than in the book.

The Book:
Obviously more detailed. More descriptive. More character's stories were elaborated on. However, I feel like there may have been a cultural barrier. I don't know if it was maybe just the terms I didn't recognize but I feel as though the movie portrayed the humor that the book had tried to achieve.

The Movie:
The book left me feeling down and depressed as I read it. The crazy thing about books is that they can make you feel so depressed but I rather liked how the movie made me laugh quite a bit. Some jokes and wits are easier to portray in action rather then in writing so that may have had something to do with it.
Not to mention, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Louisa Clark's outfits through out the film. I DIED at her quirky, colorful, and vintage style.
Well that is it for today folks. Although I am not satisfied with the ending of this story in general I really hope y'all might find the time to both read the book AND watch the movie before it goes out of theaters... and bring tissues!
