Fall Rice Krispies ~Sweet Saturday~

Happy Sweet Saturday! How cute are these fall Rice Krispy treats? I had plans of walking around downtown today, sipping a hot chocolate, and wearing riding boots. My day however, was spent walking around the farmers market, in short sleeves, a skirt, and sweat literally dripping down my back. This is usually the one month that I hate Florida. I promise there will be some Fall Fashion posts soon, but since the high tomorrow is 90 degrees, it might be a while before you see me layering sweaters :)

These Rice Krispy Treats are NOT pumpkin flavored. They are just normal rice Krispy's decorated like pumpkins. Perfect for anyone during this season. Enjoy them!

Ingredients:
6 cups Rice Krispy Cereal
3 Tbs Butter
10 oz Marshmallows (approx. 1 bag)
Red and Yellow Food coloring
Miniature tootsie rolls
1 Green Fruit-Roll up (or in my case little green gummies... anything works)

Directions:
Melt your butter in a large sauce pan over low heat
Add marshmallows and stir constantly until melted
Remove from heat
Add about 6 drops of red food coloring and 4 drops of yellow food coloring to make orange
Mix in Rice Krispy cereal
Form small balls into the shape of a pumpkin (TIP: Spray your hands with Non-Stick butter spray or PAM so the treats don't stick to your hands)
Stick each tootsie roll into the top of the treat
Cut small leaves out of the green tootsie roll or flatten green gummies
ENJOY!!

Events of the Bible:The Exodus ~Weekly Devotion~

What We Read This Week:
After the tenth plague brought by God on the Egyptians, one that left the first born of all families and animals dead, Pharaoh told the Israelites to leave and go quickly. The Israelites were spared this plague by putting blood from a perfect lamb on their doorposts, thus initiation the "Passover."
The Israelites camped by the Red Sea. While there, Pharaoh changed his mind and wanted to capture the Israelites and return them to slavery. God parted the Red Sea so the Israelites could pass on dry land but when the Egyptians tried to cross and capture them, many of them drowned.

Relating it to Your Life:
I know God has got my back. God protects those He loves and watches over those who pray for His protection. It is important to pray for protection over you and your family daily. God hears us and will do miraculous things to keep us safe. Maybe your car didn't start this morning and caused you to be late. How do you know that wasn't God protecting you from a drunk driver on the road that could have killed you? It may not look like God is parting the Sea to protect you but trust that He is working behind the scenes and He is orchestrating everything in your life for your good and His glory.

UCF Two-Toned Cupcakes ~Sweet Saturday~

Happy Sweet Saturday :) I love Saturdays spent baking and watching football! As you know, we are a HUGE Alabama football family. However, we also love The University of Central Florida. We tend to go to their sporting events often and I aspire to stay close to home and attend college there. They are playing tonight and I am hoping for a win (fingers crossed!). Lets be honest though, I love watching all football :)

These cupcakes are not only cute for football season but can be tailored to ANY event. I made these two-toned by using this tool. I bought mine from Michaels and used it for the first time today. It worked great. These would be perfect for baby gender reveal parties also! Make these however you choose, pair with your favorite frosting and sprinkles, and your done! Enjoy y'all.

Ingredients:
Two different Cake Mix Flavors/ Colors (I used Devils Food Mix and Vanilla Cake Mix)
Frosting (I used Vanilla for this also)
Sprinkles (I obviously used Gold and Black for UCF)

Directions:
Make the two different cake mixes. Pour the one color in the center and the rest in the outer circle.
Bake as directed.
Frost.
Fall in Love ;)

Month Four- 7 Experiment / Project- Servants Hearts

Happy Hump Day! I know we are half way through the month and you haven't heard from me about this months 7 challenge. Truth is I have been slacking so far this month. I am however enjoying my hot showers after not having them last month :) I am really appreciative of clean water now and try not to waste it. This month I am trying to have a servants heart. When Jesus was on this earth he was serving others, not being served. We are never more like Jesus than when we are giving to others, especially our time. This month I have decided to pray for a servants heart in little areas around my home. I can't guarantee that I will always be home to do the dishes or laundry when they need to be done but when I am asked to do them, I am going to say "yes ma'am" and do it with a good attitude because that is what Jesus would do. I challenge you to pray for ways to serve your family and help in your home this month and see how fulfilling it is to help those who have helped you so much through out your life.

To get caught up on what this 7 is all about check out this page here.

Events of the Bible: Plagues in Egypt ~Weekly Devotion~

What we Read This Week:
God spoke to Moses through a burning bush calling him to free the Israelites from Egyptian slavery. After Pharaoh refused to grand Moses' request to allow the Israelites to go into the wilderness to worship God, Moses and his brother Aaron came back to Pharaoh ten times with the same request. Each time Pharaoh refused and each time Moses detailed the plague that God would bring. Each plague was a direct attack on a false Egyptian god.

Relating it to Your Life:
This shows some serious dedication on Moses' part. This is a prime example of how sometimes when God calls us to do something hard, it may not always go as planned the first time (or first ten times), but you have to stay dedicated and follow God through it all. God's plan always prevails regardless of how it may seem like things are turning out. Do what he says. End of story :)

Lemon Cupcakes with Vanilla Frosting ~Sweet Saturday~

Happy Sweet Saturday! How cute is this photo? One of my favorite parts of baking is setting it up cute afterwards. This adorable bird cage cupcake stand is from Michaels and isn't that expensive. It is fairly easy to put together and would look so cute for a party.
Lemon isn't a flavor I am the most fond of but I love lemon cakes. I made this gluten free and the lemon flavor is still evident and simply delicious with the sweet vanilla frosting. Yummy to my tummy!

Ingredients
 Lemon Cupcakes:

½ cup unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 ½ cups all-purpose gluten free flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ cup of milk (I use Lactaid milk)

Zest & fresh juice of two lemons

Vanilla Icing

1 cup unsalted butter

3-4 cups confectioners sugar

¼ cup heavy cream

Directions

Preheat oven to 350F. Line 12-count muffin pan with paper liners. Set aside.

Using a handheld or stand mixer with a fitted paddle attachment, beat butter, and sugar together until creamed. About 2-3 minutes.

Add eggs and vanilla, beat for about 2-3 minutes.

In a medium bowl toss the flour, baking powder, and salt together. Slowly add these dry ingredients to the wet ingredients beating slowly until well combined. DO NOT OVERMIX. Your batter will be thick.

Beat in the milk, lemon zest, and lemon juice.

Spoon batter into liners. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool.

For the frosting beat softened butter for 3-4 minutes. Add confectioners sugar, cream, vanilla extract, and salt with the mixer running. Beat for several minutes and frost cool cupcakes and enjoy!

Transition to Fall ~Fashion Friday~

Happy Friday everyone! I hope everyone has had a good week. Despite the fact that I have been sick with a cold this week along with the other 70% percent of the population, it hasn't been too bad of a week. I have another long weekend so I am one smiley girl.
Although it is still flip-flop and popsicle weather here in the sunshine state, I thought I would share a cute outfit as Fall approaches considering other states experience this season ;) I love flannels (oh and humongous earrings!). I will continue to sweat and be happy while thinking about pumpkin patches and salted caramel hot coffee.... Okay that's enough of my rant, have a great weekend! :)

Events of the Bible: Moses' Birth ~Weekly Devotion~

What we Read This Week:
Joseph had been dead for many years when a new pharaoh ascended the throne. The pharaoh feared the children of Israel, who were increasing in number. He caused the Israelites to become slaves. He also ordered the Hebrew midwives to kill all the Israelite baby boys when they were born. But the midwives feared God and did not obey the pharaoh.
During this time a Levite who had taken a Levite wife had a son. To keep him from being killed they hid him in a basket made with bulrushes and tar. While bathing, the pharaoh's daughter found him. Placed strategically to watch the baby, his older sister came forward and asked the princess if she would like a nurse for the baby and went to get the baby's mother to nurse him for the princess. Pharaoh's daughter was pleased and named the baby Moses.
Moses was now safe from the edict of the pharaoh because he lived as the son of the princess.

Relating it to Your Life:
There are several different approaches you can take to this story but one main idea that I got out of it while reading was that some times God calls us to make hard choices that we don't always see the good in at the moment. We have to trust that he will make everything happen for the good. Like Moses mother did.

Back to School with Lilly ~Fashion Friday~

Happy Fashion Friday everyone. Anyone else ready for a relaxing weekend like me? I am worn out after this week y'all. One thing that does keep me organized in school is my Lilly Pulitzer planner. They are colorful and have a lot of space to write (and stickers... can't forget the stickers!). I also love the pencil pouch and mug from them too; makes going to school a tad more fun ;)

I hope y'all are ready because FOOTBALL JULIANA IS BACK! I will be getting up fairly early in the morning to watch some SEC Game day and get geared up for my Alabama team to kick some butt tomorrow night! I can NOT wait for fall and winter weather. Although based off the fact that it is 97 degrees out today, it seems like it might be a while.

'War Room' Movie Review ~Whatever Wednesday~

Hi everyone!! I hope yall are having an awesome day. I apologize for being a day late on this post but I have been CRAZY busy running around.

Today I am sharing a movie review on a new movie out called 'War Room'. This movie is made by the same people who made the movie 'Couragous', 'Fireproof', and 'Facing the Giants' and if you have seen any of those, you can probably expect a great movie! I am happy to tell you it sure was! SUCH great acting and such a simple but effective storyline about the power of prayer in relationships. I cried the entire movie! You can watch the trailer here! After seeing the movie I could cry just watching the trailer again. I hope y'all go to see it and let me know how much you love it!
