April 2014 Favs!

I cant believe that April is over! April is always a great month for me because my birthday is at the beginning of this month and this is the month right before it starts getting scorching hot outside here in Florida so I try to enjoy it. Next month also starts the stressful exams before summer vacation! So this is almost like the month to relax for me before everything starts kicking into high gear! Anyways, I do have a few things I have loved this month and hope you enjoy them! Look for my favorites again next month! Comment below any thoughts and I will reply as soon as I can! Lets jump in!

Beauty

Real Techniques Eye Brush Set- These brushes are super soft and make applying makeup really easy! This is a fairly inexpensive brush set and comes with almost everything you need! I have been using them a lot and they are quite handy!

Lorac Pro Palette- I did an in depth review on this product here and if you read it than you know I am uber obsessed with this palette! It has such great shadows and I have used it almost every day this month! This palette is 42$ which is an extremely great price for this many quality eye shadows! Basically I LOVE this if you couldn't tell already!

Milani Baked Blush in Fantastico Mauve- This blush isn't typically what you expect to see people wearing in the spring because it is so dark, however I love dark blushes in the spring because it can help contour your cheeks with your bronzer and warm up your face!

Nyx Butter Lipgloss in Peaches and Cream- These butter lip glosses as I am sure you have heard by now are just AMAZING! They are super pigmented and buttery and I have a few colors of them but one I am loving from spring is Peaches and Cream! It is a vibrant peachy-pink color that is perfect for this season!

Hair

Big Hot Rollers- Hot rollers are my new love when I am going somewhere fancy or for a day I have some time to fix my hair! These big rollers that I use aren't necessarily the ones to give you tight curls but rather big waves and big volume. (Let me know if you would like a post on how I hot roll my hair and how it turns out.)

Fashion

Steve Madden White Crossbody Purse- This purse has become my new everyday purse as spring and summer is approaching! This purse is the perfect size for my age as it isn't too big to where I look like I am trying to be older than I am, but it is big enough for me to fit all my random junk into it, which I like! :) I found mine at Tj Max so it wasn't as expensive!

Songs

Human by Christina Perri- Honestly, this song has been a LOVE of mine this whole month, every time it comes on I am so happy! I love her raspy voice!

Alex Preston and Jena Irene on American Idol- These are my two favs on the show this year! I think Jena has an INCREDIBLE voice and could easily win and become the first PINK! I love Alex Preston's voice too because it is super nice and such a treat to listen too! Check out some of my favorite performances from them below!

Movies/ T.V Shows

God's Not Dead- This movie was in theaters for a while. I wrote a review here on the movie and as you can tell it completely exceeded my expectations and was my favorite movie I saw this month!

What was some of your favorites this month? Let me know by commenting down below! Feel free to also leave post suggestions as well! If you want to email me about anything go right ahead!

Choosing Rules Over a Relationsip

One reason that lots of people have a hard time convincing others to come to church or a reason maybe you have a hard time coming to church, is because you affiliate Christianity with rules rather than with a relationship. Jesus speaks so strongly to those who try so hard to follow rules because he knows that when following him becomes about following the rules, people end up walking away from both.

When you come to know the Lord, and you come to love him as your father than obedience to him will come from the inside out. When you allow God to take control of your life, you will naturally want to obey him. I am not saying that what we do or don't do doesn't matter, but what we do must come from who we are as followers of Jesus.

Do you base your whole faith off of marking checks next to the rules you keep or the pleasure of following Jesus and having him in your life?

If you aren't a Christian or have never stepped foot in church because you think you couldn't possibly follow all the rules than I am hear to tell you that having a relationship with God isn't about following rules. Jesus loves you just the way you are right now regardless of what you have done. He wants you to follow him. Jesus doesn't say change and you can follow me, he says follow me and you will change. Its scary at first, I know, but trust me its worth it!

Peanut Butter, Butter Scotch, Chocolate Rice Krispies (Gluten Free) | Sweet Saturday!

This is one of the best family recipes my family has! You all should feel very honored that I am sharing this INCREDIBLE recipe with you. These desserts are truly the best things I have ever tried and they have a super easy clean up which is always a bonus! No mixing, baking, and not too many pans! Well let me just go ahead and get on with it and tell y'all how to make them!

Ingredients:
- A bag of butterscotch chips
- 1 cup of peanut butter
- 8 cups of rice krispies cereal
- 2 tablespoons of water
- A bag of chocolate chips
- 1 cup of confectioners sugar
- Half a stick of butter

Directions:
- Melt butterscotch and peanut butter in a large pan until well blended.
-Remove from heat, and then mix in rice krispies cereal.
-Pour half of the mixture into an 11' by 13' pan
- Put the pan in the refrigerator to chill
- In another pan combine water, chocolate chips, sugar, and butter.
-Have this mixture on low heat, you don't want to burn the chocolate. You may also want to add a tad bit more water as you go along if needed.
-Pour the chocolate mixture over the pan with the rice krispies mixture evenly.
-Pour the rest of the krispies mixture over the top of the pan evenly and put it in the fridge.

Then you are done! Pull out, slice, and enjoy! (I don't doubt that you will love these!)

If you decide to give these a try then comment and tell me how it went! What dessert would you like me to make next? Leave a comment and tell me! If you have any questions on anything also, feel free to email me!

Spring Trends OOTD | Guest Blog!

Hey there! I'm Jane from dorkyfizzyandquirkystuff.blogspot.com and I am very delighted to be blogging on Juliana Grace's blog! I'm from Ireland, and the weather here is not near as hot as Florida, so my outfit is for milder weather, I guess.

I wore this on Monday, and I was going to town to shop with my family. It was very sunny, but since I would be inside a shopping centre I wanted to be comfortable in clothes that would be easy to change out of and into in the fitting rooms. Pastel, as usual, is a spring trend this 2014, so my lilac hoodie worked well in this case, which is also nice and light. The downfall to this look is my UGGs, as they look very wintry. I can explain though; they are a lot simpler to slip off than Converse shoes with all those laces!

Necklace: Primark

Hoodie: Victoria's Secret PINK

White Top: Hollister

Jeans: G by Guess

Boots: UGG Australia

I hope you liked my OOTD!

Make sure to check out Juliana's fabulous look over at my blog: dorkyfizzyandquirkystuff.blogspot.com

Thanks again Juliana,

Lorac Pro Palette Review & Swatches

The buzz has been going around about this palette and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! As soon as my birthday came around I just had to make the purchase! There are 8 matte shades and 8 shimmer shades making it incredibly easy to achieve a variety of eye looks. These shadows are very buttery, smooth, and easy to blend- all of the things on my checklist! The packaging is slick and slim making it easy to slide into places when traveling or storing. This beauty also comes with an eye primer that works extremely well in my opinion!

Left -Right: White, Cream, Taupe, Lt. Pink

Left-Right: Mauve, Sable, Espresso, Black

Left-Right: Nude, Champagne, Gold, Lt.Bronze

Left-Right: Pewter, Garnet, Deep Purple, Slate

My Grading:

Packaging: 10/10 - This is about as slim as it could possibly get for a palette with 16 total shadows! Way to go Lorac!

Color Selection: 10/10- This is already my favorite thing in my makeup collection and I haven't even owned it a full month! The color selection is incredible and any person I feel could do something with this palette!

Pigmentation: 8/10- There are a few of the matte shades that can tend to be a tad chalky and hard to build up however I am very impressed that none of the shimmer shadows have stuff fall to your cheeks! Very impressed with the pigmentation of almost all of these shades!

Longevity: 8/10- This product comes with an eye primer that definitely helps the eye shadow stay on longer. With the primer it comes with I find that most of the shadows don't start to crease until after about 12 hours which is amazing! I haven't tried wearing these shades without an eye primer and I don't think I ever will! I am a huge believer in eye primer. If I am going to pay for a palette with a ton of shadows in it, they better stay on my eyes!! :)

Overall I give it an A++ !!!

NYC Sunny Bronzer vs. Benefit Hoola Bronzer

Two bronzers that are easily compared to each other are the NYC Sunny Bronzer and the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. Though the packaging and price is quite different, the product inside of them really isn't! Check out my thoughts of each individually below:

NYC Sunny Bronzer: This bronzer is sold at CVS and most drugstores for less than 3 buckaroos! That's incredible for a matte bronzer period, but especially for one this great! I have used this for quiet some time now and have no complaints other than it didn't match my skin tone as well! The sunny bronzer is more "orangy" in tone so there are few people who match well with this color! As far as how long it stays on I would say about 4-5 hours in air condition and about 30 minutes in the outdoor heat of Florida! Haha! This does blend fairly well and can be sheered out to give the overall face a nice bronze look or can be built up to nicely contour the cheekbones and forehead.
Overall: You can't beat it! Though now I have others I reach for more, I have definitely gotten my 3 dollars use out of it!

Benefit Hoola Bronzer: This bronzer is sold at both Ulta and Sephora for 28$ and is the best ever! In the packaging it looks very light however it shows up on almost anybody! This bronzer is more olive/yellow in skin tone so this will definitely look better on WAY more peoples face. This bronzer is finely milled so it is super super easy to blend and can be used for just about anything! This is definitely my go to bronzer every day. I find it is definitely worth the money!

Left: Sunny, Right: Hoola

Overall Final Verdict: Though the Sunny bronzer from the drugstore is way cheaper I find that I prefer Hoola! It goes with more skin tones and though the box-like packaging is a little bulky for storage purposes and traveling, it is more sturdy than Sunny. However, I would recommend Sunny for beginners who want to experiment with bronzer and learn how to do it! Both of these bronzers are definitely worth their price and both have a star place in my makeup collection!

Gods Not Dead- Movie Review

AGGGGHHHHHHH!!!! God's Not Dead is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time! This movie exceeded my expectations by far! I went to see this movie with my family and all of us just adored it! Whether you are a Christian or not I challenge you to go see this movie! It is basically a debate between a Christian freshman in college against his atheist professor, along with some side stories that are all tied nicely together at the end. I thought the freshman would say a few bible verses and that would be it but this movie brings up todays topics and really gets you thinking.

See the trailer to get a glimpse at this incredibly well made movie! I know that I am a Christian but even if you aren't I challenge you to just go see it quickly before it leaves the theater. This movie features all types of real life situations that a lot of people go through good and bad. It also features Willie Robertson for a bit so if you love Duck Dynasty use that as an excuse to go check it out!

Rate: 10/10

If you go to see it or have gone to see it let me know your thoughts, arguments, and agreements by sending me an email!

Perm Story/ About My Hair

Though I have never dyed my hair, my hair sure has been cut every way possible and I have tried using just about every product imaginable. My hair has been super oily for the past year or so and I have tried everything I could to stop it. However my scalp was also very dry and flaky so when I bought a shampoo to give moisture to my scalp it made my hair more oily, but when I bought products to dry up my hair, my scalp would only get more flaky and dry. I tried certain shampoos, I gave up conditioners, I used dry shampoos on the days I didn't wash my hair, and I even went to a dermatologist and bought several shampoos he gave me. Finally, the dermatologist just said "Get a perm!!" My Grandpa and my Momma all had the same issue as me and the only thing that stopped their oily hair and dry scalp was a perm.

This past week I decided that I would go ahead and give it a shot. I can honestly say it was a life saver!! I had the lady give me a body wave perm which means she gave me big waves rather than kinky tight small curls. I only wash my hair about every 3 days and when I do, I wash it at night, go straight to bed, and wake up and have wavy hair! Not only is my hair not oily and my scalp is no longer dry, but I have volume in my hair and it holds wave and curl now for a day and a half! That is saying a lot considering that my hair used to only hold curl for at tops 2 hours. Most days I wake up and spray some sea salt spray in it or curl a few pieces and boom! I have beach waves!

If you have the same problems I did, maybe a perm is the solution for you too!

Below are pictures:
