Jamberry Nails- Review

Hello everyone and HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE! I hope to hear below about all of y'alls New Years plans. Tomorrow I am going to the Citrus Bowl here in Florida where Missouri and Minnesota are playing. I will be pulling for Missouri since they are in the SEC but I am mostly just looking forward to having a good time with my dad watching some football! I just got back on Monday from Atlanta where I was visiting with my mom's side of the family and I had such a lovely time catching up. I am sad however that the Christmas celebrations are now over.

Anyways, today I am sharing a little review on Jamberry Nails! A lady that I am friends with sells these and she always had the cutest nails and now that I have tried Jamberry Nails, I don't think I will be going back to normal nail polish anytime soon! There are a THOUSAND patterns and colors to choose from and you wouldn't believe the amount of options and cute things they can fit in a nail sticker.
The way these apply is you cut the little strip in half and place it on your nail. You then take a hair dryer or heater of some sort and melt the stickers onto your nails for about 5 seconds. You then file off the rest of the excess and you have these beautiful designs for about 2-3 weeks! They are super easy to peel off and don't damage your nails. After about 2-3 weeks you will notice the ends starting to turn up and you just gently peel them or soak them in hot water before doing so and they come off easily! Watch the application video here.
You get a strip of nail stickers for about 15$ and each pack comes with enough to do your hands about 2 times and your feet 2-3 times, with some left over for accenting one nail. This is a really good price in my opinion for this many applications and they are super nice quality, easy to apply, easy to remove, adorable, and don't damage your nails! (I'm obsessed with them if you couldn't tell!!)

I want to hear all about your New Years plans and what your favorite thing is for your nails! Comment below or send me an email.

Talk to you soon!

Christmas Tag!

Hi everyone! Today I am going to be answering a couple of questions for the Christmas Tag. Since today is CHRISTMAS EVE I thought this would be appropriate :) Thanks to the beautiful Guilianna Marie for tagging me. Check out her answers to the tag on her blog.

1. What have you been buying from Starbucks this holiday season?
I love the Caramel Brulee latte at Starbucks because it is more like a coffee flavored drink rather than straight coffee :) haha!

2. What's your favorite winter candle scent?
I am not a huge candle person because I get bad headaches from them easily but I love ANYTHING peppermint scented during this season.

3. Giving or receiving? Why?
I like both for different reasons. I like how Christmas is the one day of the year that I get to receive little things I would never really buy for myself. However, I love that during the whole month of December practically, I get to give gifts to different people at different times. There is a happiness that is indescribable when someone opens a gift from you. I would say both are pretty awesome and fun :)

4. Do you stay in pajamas or dress up for Christmas?
Onsies all the way. I stay in my onsie all day. And I never get out of it.

5. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
My family will always open like maybe our stockings on Christmas Eve or our gifts from our grandparents but we save the gifts from Santa and each other for bright and early Christmas morning.

6. What are you doing for the holidays this year?
A little bit of traveling but for the most part I will be staying home and enjoying the sweet time off with my family.

7. Candy Cane or Gingerbread Man?
I am allergic to gluten so I cant eat gingerbread however I do love candy canes and especially the peppermint smell!

8. Do you do advent calendars?
No I have never done those. Honestly the chocolate ones would be empty by day three so I have never bought one of those. I saw a makeup one at Ulta this year and thought I should remember to do that next year though!

9. What's at the top of your Christmas list this year?
I didn't really ask for anything specific this year. I made a list a while ago but don't remember what is on it. I am super girly and am pretty easy to shop for so I trust my momma and daddy to do okay :)

10. What do you eat for Christmas dinner?
We usually have something nice but its not like we have the same dinner every year. We usually have a cake or cupcakes to sing happy birthday to Jesus also.

11. Fake or Real Christmas Tree?
I prefer a fake one because you can put them up earlier and keep them up longer. Also, they are less work and are less messy.

12. What's your favorite holiday nail polish?
Anything red and white!

I now tag all of you to do this post! Link yours in the comments if you choose to do this tag before Christmas is over. I would love to read yours! I hope you all enjoyed this post and are enjoying your Christmas Eve! Tomorrow we celebrate the birth of our King so I hope you are all excited! Enjoy the rest of your evening and I hope you have a fantastic Christmas tomorrow. I will talk to you all soon :)

Being Selfless Like Mary - Christmas Devotion!

Tonight I am posting the last Christmas Devotion. I can't believe a week from today Christmas will already be over. I wanted to talk about Mary and selflessness for this last Christmas devotion because she is obviously such an important aspect of the Christmas story.

For some of us, other people look at our lives and see how together we have it. They see our talents and abilities and they give us compliments. We have every intention of giving God glory, but sometimes, we begin to believe in ourselves more than Him. God becomes a small part of the picture and we start to believe in ourselves more. We tend to forget that it isn't all about us. And even when we do acknowledge God, we perceive Him only as the God who played a part in what we have done. It is the different between the god who serves us and the God whom we serve.

What are some things that become gods in our lives? We often treat God like Santa Clause and want to ask him for what we want, who we want, and how we want things to work out. As we look at Mary, we see that she had no reason to rest on her abilities because she wasn't born very significant. She was around 14 years old, simple, and poor. She had a boyfriend but he was as insignificant as she was. She did however, receive a visit from an angel.

26 Now in the sixth month of her pregnancy, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth, 27 to a virgin engaged to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel came to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you!” (Luke 1: 26-28)

Visits by angels were often reserved for people that held some title of importance in that time you would think. Mary's life was instantly changed when the angel said "you are highly favored."

30 Then the angel told her, “Stop being afraid, Mary, because you have found favor with God. 31 Listen! You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. 33 He will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end.”
34 Mary asked the angel, “How can this happen, since I have not had relations with a man?”
35 The angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come over you, and the power of the Most High will surround you. Therefore, the child will be holy and will be called the Son of God. 36 And listen! Elizabeth, your relative, has herself conceived a son in her old age, this woman who was rumored to be barren is in her sixth month. 37 Nothing is impossible with respect to any of God’s promises.” (Luke 1:30-37)

Mary wondered how she would become pregnant since she was a virgin. But look how she responds:

38 Then Mary said, “Truly I am the Lord’s servant. Let everything you have said happen to me.” Then the angel left her. (Luke 1:38)

Mary was not born great and what was about to happen to her, put her in an incredibly dangerous situation. Where Mary grew up, women who got pregnant before marriage were killed. To Mary there didn't seem to be a lot in it for her.
Instead of saying "God bless me", Mary said "God, how can I bless you?"
Mary had to become selfless.

Many of us wouldn't describe ourselves as selfish but when we go on our own social medias we probably find a lot of me, me, me. What would happen if we were more like Mary? Would it be more like:
-This girl is just average but she gets up early every day and sacrifices sleep in order to pray for the kids at her school.
-This girl is just an average teen who uses her social to share the gospel
-This girl is a normal 13 year old who always has a kind word for everyone
-This is not a rich girl but always finds a way to give

We live in a world where everyone is trying to grab their moment of fame. (Alex from Target for example). What if it wasn't about us and more about God? How would our attitude change daily. Wouldn't you like to be apart of Gods story?

God used a 14 year old girl to change the world so who is to say that he couldn't use you to do the same again?

Sister Fashion Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! I am OUT OF SCHOOL! Today is my first day of winter break and I would say that I am starting it off right by eating some leftover pizza for breakfast and staying in my pjs for most of the day. I cant believe that in less then a week it will be CHRISTMAS, what are your plans for this amazing holiday? I won't be doing too much traveling but am looking forward to spending time with family of course.

Today I am featuring my gorgeous sister Meredith on my blog today for a Fashion Friday post. She went to a party last weekend and she let me fix her like a little Barbie doll :) I picked out her outfit, did her makeup, and hair. Her shirt is from Hollister and her skinny jeans are from Aeropostle. She tucked it all in with a white belt and white Keds shoes which go with everything. I bumped and teased her hair and did a bit of makeup! For jewelry she is wearing some pearl stud earrings and a gold Alex and Ani bracelet with an "M" on it. Isn't she beautiful?

What are your plans for this week leading up to Christmas? Don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for the last Christmas devotion that I will have up on Monday and some more wintery Fashion Friday posts coming up soon.

Perfect Foundation! - Clinique Superpowder Double Face Makekup

Hey everyone! Today I am going to be sharing with you all a review/ recommendation post for the Clinique Superpowder Double Face Makeup. This is also an updated foundation routine post because this has been my go-to foundation for a little while now and have received many compliments on my skin. If y'all have followed my blog for a while then you already know I am an avid Clinique fan and love that every product works with my skin. Their products are super gentle and can be sheered out or built up so that every person can enjoy it. You don't have to pick and choose.

I use this face powder on top of my Clinique Superbalance Makeup which is a liquid foundation (post all about that here). Both of these can individually be used on their own to give sheer-medium coverage however I love using a tiny bit of the liquid to hydrate my face and setting it with this powder to give a flawless full coverage face. This powder doesn't at all look cakey or piled on and lasts all day over the liquid foundation. I am in the shade 07 matte neutral which does add a little more color to my face than the liquid foundation in Alabaster. The other thing I love about this foundation is that it doesn't dry out your face or make your skin flaky. I have tried several powder foundation that, even with liquid foundation under it, still makes my skin flakey and dry looking so I was thrilled that this one doesn't! I definitely recommend going to a counter and having someone color match you so that you can give this product a try!

If you have a post about your foundation routine, link it below. If you have any additional thoughts or questions, leave them below or email me!

Patience and Waiting - Simeon Christmas Devotion

What things do you want that you don't have yet?
What things would you like to do that you haven't done yet?
Where is somewhere you would like to go that you haven't been yet?

It is always hard to wait on things, but God has a plan for everything and knows perfect timing.

What if I need a job but everything I check out is a dead end? What if I am sick with a disease and I am waiting for God to heal me? What if my dream never happens?

This isn't a pep rally to motivate you to "never give up on your dream" or a speech about never quitting. The point is that we aren't used to waiting for anything. Today we are going to talk about a guy who never stopped waiting and held on to hope no matter what.

This guys name is Simeon and he was totally consumed by the Christmas story. This was the idea that consumed his every thought.

His Story:
25 Now a man named Simeon was in Jerusalem. This man was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the one who would comfort Israel,[a] and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die[b] until he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.[c]
27 Led[d] by the Spirit, he went into the Temple. When the parents brought the child Jesus to do for him what was customary under the Law, 28 Simeon[e] took the infant[f] in his arms and praised God, saying,
29 “Master, now you are dismissing your servant in peace
    according to your promise,
30 because my eyes have seen your salvation,
31 which you prepared for all people to see—
32 a light that will reveal salvation[g] to unbelievers[h]
and bring glory to your people Israel.”
33 Jesus’[i] father and mother kept wondering at the things being said about him. 34 Then Simeon[j] blessed them and told Mary, his mother, “This infant is destined to cause many in Israel to fall and rise. Also, he will be a sign that will be opposed. 35 Indeed, a sword will pierce your own soul, too, so that the inner thoughts of many people might be revealed.” (Luke 2:25-35)

Simeon was well versed in the Old Testament and he knew that a savior was coming. One day while praying it was revealed to him that this promise would be fulfilled in his life time. God promised that Simeon would live long enough to see and touch the very one that was promised. He didn't know what day and he didn't know how old he would be. He just knew that he would see Jesus before he died. As Simeon went about his life, in the back of his mind you know he was wondering how long it would be until his eyes got to see the Light of the world.

Even after fasting and praying and still no sign of Jesus, Simeon never game up hope. No one knew who this baby Jesus was but the minute Simeon held the baby in the temple he KNEW. Simeon is a part of the Christmas story that usually falls through the cracks. It is important however because when everyone else gave up hope, Simeon kept hoping. When everyone else quit, Simon refused to give up. Simeon believed that what he was waiting for would be worth the wait and prayers. He knew God made a promise to him and that was enough for him.

Some of us are waiting on different things or waiting for God to show up in our lives. When Simeon saw Jesus, he KNEW... do you KNOW?

How would your life change is you could live like Simeon and have full trust in what God promises and content with waiting on that, regardless of how long it might take?

Quote: A true test of character is: "Your patience when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything."

Around at Night!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing fantastic because it is FRIDAY! Fridays always make me happy but this one is super special because next week is exam week which even though that means hours of studying and endless stress, it also means early days off and last week of school before CHRISTMAS BREAK! I think this time of year is probably my favorite because we get a glimpse of colder weather and I feel like most people are just happier this season. I cant wait to spend some time relaxing and spending time with family which is the best part about this time of year! When do you get on Christmas break?

This outfit isn't very wintery because I was going to a show and it was inside where it is usually hot so although I was a bit chilly it wasn't too bad most of the time. You have seen this shirt in an earlier post during summer where I wore a white skirt and cowgirl boots with it. Today I am wearing this Hard Rock shirt from Washington DC with some Aeropostle jeans and brown riding boots of course! I love navy and brown together but I feel like you don't see those colors paired together often enough. I have more wintery Fashion Friday posts coming soon so keep your eyes peeled! :)

Hope you all enjoyed! Comment or email me with any thoughts or questions.

Bacon Wrapped Honey Mustard Chicken Recipe

Happy Hump Day everyone! I hope you are all having a spectacular week so far. I am in a super good mood this week because the weather here in Florida has been perfect. It is around 45 degrees early in the morning and reaches a high of about 60 this week. The cold weather puts me in such a good mood and considering that for the past couple of day my family has been waking up at 5:30am to go walk a mile or so, I am super happy that it is chilly out. I have several Fashion Friday posts coming in the next couple weeks that include some cold weather styles and new purchases so look out for those!

Today I am showing you a recipe that I prepared for my family that is SUPER delicious! The flavors all go so well together and my family REALLY enjoyed it which made me super proud. I thought they were amazing too though and they go great with some cooked vegies.

Ingredients:
-2 Pounds boneless chicken thighs
-1/4 tsp sea salt
-1/8 tsp ground pepper
-1/8 tsp garlic powder
-2 packages regular cut bacon
-1/3 cups raw honey
-1/2 cup ground mustard
-3 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
-dash cayenne

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400F, making sure the oven rack is about 1/3 away from the oven top. Sprinkle chicken breasts lightly with sea salt, ground pepper and garlic powder.
2. Line a baking pan with a baking sheet or foil (to collect dripping). Slice chicken strips to about 1 1/2 inches thick and wrap in a slice of bacon. Place each on a wire rack set over the baking pan.
3. Mix the
raw honey, mustard, vinegar and cayenne (optional) in a small mixing bowl until combined.
4. Baste the top of the bacon wrapped chicken strips with the honey mustard mixture and place in the oven for about 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned on top. Remove the pan from the oven and flip over the chicken strips with a pair of kitchen tongs. Baste the other side of the strips with the mixture and return to the oven for another 12-15 minutes or until bacon is crispy. Remove from oven and serve.

These are super easy and not full of too many calories either. My family really enjoyed them and I am sure you are your family or guests will enjoy it too! Comment or email me with any questions!

Christmas Devotion- King Herod

Good morning everyone! I hope you are all having a great start to your week. I know Mondays aren't particularly a fantastic day but I am here to share some great news! As we all prepare for Christmas coming up this month I am going to be doing some devotions that revolve around the Christmas story. Today we are talking about King Herod.

If you don't read through all of this devotion just know: Following Jesus will cost you something but not following Jesus will cost you everything.

What are some of the visions you have for your life? What is it that you dream of being when you grow up or have the ability? How do you see yourself as a college student, an adult, etc..?
Have you dreamed about your wedding? How many kids you want? What their names will be?
What happens when it doesn't go our way or our lives don't turn out the way we planned?
More importantly, what do we do with Jesus because as wonderful as he is, he can change our plans quite often and asks us to do things we don't particularly want to do.

Think of your life like a puzzle? In a puzzle there are certain pieces that have to fit together but you only know what goes together and where to put each piece based on what you want the final image to look like- the picture on the box.
As we go through our lives, every person has hopes and dreams and we all have that picture on the box we want to get to. Some times it is an Olympic gold medal, or to be the president of a corporation and  be rich and powerful and not worry about money. Or maybe you want to cure cancer through science. We all have that picture on the box of what we want our lives to turn out like and as we read about King Herod we learn that people had their picture perfect boxes even back then.

King Herod was king at the time Jesus was born. He called himself "The Great" and was obsessed with his kingdom so much that he had his own children killed so they wouldn't threaten to take his throne. He didn't want anything to interfere with his plan. You can imagine that when there were rumblings about this king being born and wise men showing up at his door looking for the messiah that he experienced some major anxiety.

1-2 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem village, Judah territory— this was during Herod’s kingship—a band of scholars arrived in Jerusalem from the East. They asked around, “Where can we find and pay homage to the newborn King of the Jews? We observed a star in the eastern sky that signaled his birth. We’re on pilgrimage to worship him.” (Mathew 2:1-2)

King Herod went to the Priests whom he thought would know where the Christ was supposed to be born. The leader responded:

They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, because that is what was written by the prophet:
‘O Bethlehem in the land of Judah,
you are by no means least among the rulers of Judah,
because from you will come a ruler
who will shepherd[a] my people Israel.’”
 (Mathew 2:5-6)

Herod wanted to kill this Christ and ordered that every child under the age of 2 be killed but Joseph moved the baby and his mother to Egypt to spare Jesus' life.

13 After they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt,” he said. “Stay there until I tell you, because Herod intends to search for the child and kill him.” (Mathew 2:13)

If you are like me you are reading this story, your are going "Come on Herod, chill out man!" But like you and me Herod had dreams and had the box picture he was striving for and Jesus threatened his perfect image.

Don't miss this guys: Because for Herod, just like for you and me, to allow Jesus into his life meant he would have to let something go. There was a conflict between Herod's puzzle picture and God's. For Herod there was only one king and it was him. He died an unbeliever.

Sometimes to embrace the manger and the baby interrupts our hopes and dreams. One thing that is hard for me personally to grasp is that accepting Jesus means I cant be the planner and controller of my life (which I will be honest, drives me crazy sometimes) :) One of the most beautiful sights is seeing someone so moved by God that they take things out of their lives to make God the center of their puzzle.

If you really embraced the Christmas story today, what would you be willing to give up?

Herod made the decision many of us make which says that it doesn't fit your plans and it isn't worth the cost. Herod was struck with a terrible disease and five days before he died he ordered that all the kings and servants of him be killed so when he died it be a day of mourning not of celebration. His dream of power turned into a nightmare.

I find it amazing that all he wanted to be remembered as was a great king but here we are 2,000 years later talking about how horrible he was.

Jesus came to this earth not on a white horse, or a white robe on. He came wrapped in a blanket and long before the cross, this baby came to be our missing puzzle piece.

Maxi...

Hi everyone! I hope you have all had a great week and are set for a fantastic weekend. The holiday season always calls for very busy schedules and this weekend is no exception. I am working at a Christmas event at my church and studying for exams like crazy as the end of the semester approaches. Sadly it hasn't been as cold here as I would like, reaching about a low of 70 degrees this past week. Hopefully it will get a bit colder so that I can pull out the sweaters and cute winter clothing.
Yesterday I went to my dentist to see if I was going to have to get braces and my dentist said my teeth look perfect so I am super blessed this Christmas!

I am loving this light pink sweater from Kohl's and the gray maxi skirt from Charlotte Russe. My watch is Betsy Johnson and my bracelets are from Kohl's also. My necklace is from Love Culture. I love this little combo for a warmer day in December here in Florida. Comment or email any thoughts or questions.

Cool Tone Smokey Eye

Hi everyone, I hope you are all having a great week so far. I am kind of sad that my thanksgiving break is over but at least there isn't too much longer until Christmas break! One thing that I love during the winter and holiday season is a cool toned smokey eye. I am always a brown and warm-toned type of girl but during the Christmas time, I love to pair a cool-toned smokey eye with a red lip! Below is the quad from Ulta that I love and use but you can use anything similar. I created a little diagram to demonstrate where you would put each shade. I hope you enjoy!

I hope you ladies enjoyed this quick little post! I will see you all on Friday for another Fashion Friday post. Comment or email me with any questions.

Fall Beauty Essentials - Guest Post

Hello everyone! x

Today I'm doing a collaboration blog post with Juliana Grace. I am giving you my fall makeup essentials and she will be sharing her fall fashion essentials. You can check out her post on my blog.

From Pinterest

Matte Foundation
When switching from summer to fall, I tend to toss away my BB creams and search for a matte foundation. My personal favorite is Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup by Clinique. It retails for approximately $23. It was completely worth it.

Correcting Concealer
If you've read my blog before, you already know that I am completely obsessed with the SkinClearing Blemish Concealer by Neutrogena. It retails for $8.99. I find that it's slightly expensive for a drugstore concealer, but it most certainly does a fantastic job at concealing any imperfections on my skin.

Shine ControlPowder
Right now my favorite powder for every season is Healthy Skin Pressed Powder by Neutrogena, which is $11.99 in stores and onlineI love this product. It wipes away shine in an instant. Usually, if I'm feeling oily throughout the day I use a Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheet and quickly dust this powder on my face with a brush.

Plum Blush
A plum colored brush sets the tone for autumn by a far. My favorite high end blush is bareMinerals READY Blush in the shade The Indecent Proposal. It's a nice berry color which compliments my fair skin tone.

Dark lips
These are a must for fall and winter. I love vamping up my lips. They certainly make a statement without overdoing it. For those nights out, I tend to lean towards a classic red lip; T-Swift inspired of course. You can use any lip product you want- if you're not comfortable with a bold lip, apply a sheer gloss.

Smokey Eyes
When I'm not wearing a bold lip color, I love to bring the attention to my eyes. (I sometimes wear glasses, so it's important to me that my blue eyes don't hide behind my frames.)

From Pinterest

A subtle amount of color can easily amplify your look. For the fall, I tend to lean toward these copper tones, just because they add a nice amount of warmth to my face. Try Maybelline's Eye Studio Color Tattoo Pure Pigments Loose Powder Shadow in Bold Gold for that hint of color as a base. Simply dust a deep copper/brown into your crease and outer corner for that daytime smokey eye.

To complete the eye look, I recommend curling your lashes and applying 1-2 coats of mascara on to your upper and lower lashes.

I'm not very good with eyeliner, so I don't even bother with it.

From Google Images

I recommend choosing one feature to play up on your face: eyes, lips, or cheeks.
